Volunteer Opportunities – Join the FigFruFi Team

Volunteers are the heartbeat of Figure, Fruit & Field. By helping out, you’ll not only be part of an exciting creative community, but you’ll also receive a significantly discounted ticket as a thank-you. We anticipate needing about 20–25 volunteers in total to bring this event to life, and we would love for you to be one of them!

Why We Need You: This is our second annual retreat, and while our team has experience organizing events, each gathering is unique. With 200+ acres of land and lots of activities planned, extra hands make a huge difference. Volunteers will assist with preparing the site before attendees arrive, keeping things running smoothly during the weekend, and tidying up afterwards. Your contribution helps every participant have a fantastic experience.

How It Works: If you’re interested in volunteering, purchase a Volunteer Ticket option. During the sign-up, you’ll fill out a short form to tell us what tasks you’re comfortable with and when you’re available to help (you can even help the weekend before the event if you’re local!). You get to choose your preferred jobs and time slots so it fits your schedule. We’ll work with you to ensure you still get plenty of time to enjoy the retreat’s art sessions and fun – volunteering won’t mean missing out on the experience!

Perks of Volunteering: In exchange for ~8 hours of help, your ticket price is greatly reduced. You’ll still have access to all meals and activities outside your volunteer shifts. Plus, you’ll gain behind-the-scenes experience, make friends with other volunteers/staff, and have the satisfaction of helping build this creative community from the ground up. (Not to mention our enormous gratitude and a shout-out at the event!)

Volunteer Tasks – What to Expect:
Before the event (prep work in days leading up to the retreat):

  • Clearing campsites and trails – this could involve weed whacking, lawn mowing, or light brush clearing. (Have a weed eater, machete, or scythe? Let us know – your tools and skills can really help!)
  • Making signs and artful signposts for various areas of the retreat.
  • Helping get the well water system running (if you have technical know-how, great, but helpers are needed for manual tasks too).

During the event (keeping things running):

  • Trash & Recycling Runner: Collecting trash bags and recyclables from common areas and taking them to the dumpster.
  • Greywater Management: Emptying and properly disposing of grey water from hand-washing or kitchen stations.
  • Compost Toilet Maintenance: Changing out the compost in the portable toilets to keep them clean and usable (gloves and instructions provided!).
  • General Errands: Being an on-call runner for miscellaneous tasks or supply runs as they come up.
  • Kitchen Help: Assisting our cook team with food prep, dish washing, and serving during meal times.
  • Grocery Shopper: Making a quick trip off-site to pick up fresh ingredients each day (we’ll provide the shopping list and funds).
  • Parking Attendant: Guiding cars to park in the right area when attendees arrive, and helping manage the parking area.
  • Check-In Assistant: Helping at the welcome/check-in tent to greet arrivals, hand out info, and get people settled.

We have volunteer roles for all abilities and levels of experience – from artistic sign-making to hands-on outdoor work. Everyone’s contribution is valued. We’ll make sure you’re comfortable with your duties and working alongside a friendly team.

By volunteering, you’re not just attending the retreat, you’re shaping it. We truly appreciate the time and energy our volunteers give. Thank you a bunch – we need you! If you’re ready to join us, grab a Volunteer Ticket or reach out via our contact page with any questions. We can’t wait to collaborate with you!
